The modern bathroom has evolved from a simple home utility to a place of luxury, beauty and relaxation. From the major fixtures to the tile details, style and design have become just as important as function. For instance, cabinets inside the bathroom are installed not only for storage purposes but also for aesthetic reasons. Contemporary bathroom cabinets have to fit in with the rest of the décor, and can even serve as the bathroom’s focal point.

Minimalistic Design

Thin is in, especially in small bathrooms where space-saving is a primary concern. One of the popular trends in contemporary bathroom design is the minimalist approach, characterized by sleek lines, bold colors, and a mixture of natural and synthetic materials. Vertical rise and wooden cabinets with smooth metal handles fit in perfectly with this theme.

Multi faces

“Ordinary” bathroom cabinets use traditional designs and safe, solid colors. The modern bathroom favors more creative cabinets – wood carvings, glass doors, hanging cabinets. Bathroom cabinets now come in a wide range of styles and materials, from simple wooden cabinets to pieces that are as stylish as they are functional. It doesn’t have to be bold or avant-garde – a simple change in color or detail can change the overall look of your bathroom. Use carved handles instead of round ones to create an antique look, or use bright neon accents to liven up a plain wall. If you can’t decide on a theme, a quick browse through online stores and designers’ websites should give you some good ideas.

Material (finish) choice

Bathroom cabinets used to come only in wood and plastic, and in rather plain designs. A dull, bulky cabinet can ruin an otherwise beautiful bathroom. Fortunately, modern bathroom design now offers more choices in color and material. Some of the most popular are glass and laminate doors, and wall-mount and vertical rise designs.

The main advantage of glass cabinets is that you can see the contents from the outside. Glass also looks great with minimalist designs, especially against a rough stone or granite countertop. Be sure to use tempered glass to make it more resilient against heat and moisture. Wood laminates are a cheaper alternative to glass, and also look good with contemporary themes.

Things to consider before buying online

The Internet is a good source for browsing and shopping for bathroom cabinets, but you should be careful when shopping online. Online stores don’t let you test the product or see how it will look with your bathroom. To prevent online fraud and bad purchases, buy only from a reputable company with a return policy. Ask around first or read up about the company. Be sure to ask about warranties and shipping costs, as these are seldom discussed on manufacturers’ websites.

Gone are the days where the bathroom was strictly utilitarian. These days, bathrooms are also a place to relax and unwind after a tiring day. Even the most practical homeowners are now seeking aesthetic satisfaction in addition to comfort and functionality in their bathrooms. One of the most popular additions to the modern bathroom is the vanity.

Many manufacturers have started producing vanity items specifically for modern bathroom designs – modern not only in the more advanced fixtures (like the no-flush toilets), but also in the styles and materials used. Modern bathrooms favor a wide range of materials, from traditional porcelain and ceramic to unconventional ones like glass, wood, and stone. Here are some of the common features of modern bathroom vanities.

Glass

Glass basin-type sinks are a popular theme in modern vanities. These sinks are not attached to the wall like traditional ones, but are usually mounted on the countertop or on a pedestal. However, some designs have only a rectangular panel for support, using sleek pipe-like components that are fixed to the wall. The general price range for pedestal glass sinks is from $950 to $1800. For those with only an upright stand as support, the prices usually range from $400 to $600, and rectangular wall-supported models cost from $500 to $700.

Double vanity

Double vanities are designed to be used by two people at a time. Their distinguishing feature is one large sink or two separate basins. They are available in different materials such as glass and wood, and in different designs ranging from contemporary clean and subdued to luxurious classical themes. Double vanities are relatively expensive, ranging in price from $1,700 to $1,800.

Antique

Antique bathroom vanities are inspired by classic Victorian designs, often featuring rich moldings and intricate gilding. This makes them rather bulky compared to contemporary designs, so these are best for large bathrooms. One of the most common setups in this design is a wood countertop with an above-counter or recessed sink, with cabinets located underneath. The cabinets provide storage as well as conceal the pipes and other plumbing. This design is favored for double vanities because it is more stable than the glass basin or pedestal style. Single antique vanities cost from $700 to $850, while double antique ones go for $1700 to $1800.

Wood

Wood can be used in both antique and contemporary vanities, depending on their cut and style. Smooth, clean cuts fit in well with modern and minimalist designs, while intricate finishes and carved edges create a classic, elegant feel. They are also available in single and double vanities. Single vanities range from $600 to $2000, while double vanities are priced fro $1700 to $2000.

Porcelain

Porcelain vanities have the simplest, most traditional look. Most porcelain sinks come in white or close shades like cream and ecru. Other colors are available, but these are usually more expensive. Porcelain vanities are usually the cheapest and most basic, making them ideal for those building a vanity from scratch.

Liquids should be wiped from the surface along the grain pattern of the wood immediately with a soft dry cloth.

Dry air can cause shrinkage, warping and seasonal cracks in all wood products, especially during the winter when your furnace is operating.
Organization. Space maximization. Practicality. Elegance. All of these are desirable qualities in any piece of furniture, but in a bathroom, these are especially important characteristics. It is an unfortunate truth that bathrooms, despite being some of the most important and most frequented rooms in a house, tend to also be some of the smallest and most neglected rooms. This general lack of notable decorations likely stems from the fact that the average bathroom is, frankly, cramped and overcrowded.

So how can one rectify this design flaw? How can you introduce an aesthetically appealing element into your bathroom that is also functional and unobtrusive? We here at Bathgems like to think that most of these issues can be solved with one simple bathroom installation: a single sink bathroom vanity.

Looking through our catalog of individual and pedestal bathroom vanities, you can see what we mean. Much smaller than double bathroom vanities, and perhaps smaller than even some of our antique bath vanities, these single sink vanities are the perfect combination of form and function. They do not take up much space at all, and yet they provide plenty of storage room for all of your toiletries, hygienic products, and other bathroom necessities.

Our single sink vanities come in a wide variety of unique and interesting styles that will surely get some attention. Whether you are looking for something simple and unassuming, modern and strange, or ornate yet petite, we are confident that we have the right bath vanity for you. Our vanities are designed by skilled artisans and professional craftsmen, so we guarantee a fine product that is beautiful, but durable enough to last you for years and years of regular use. Bathgems single sink vanities are made from a variety of high-quality materials including: bold travertine, solid oak, rich mahogany, sturdy pine, and elegant cherry wood. Single sink vanity countertops are often made from marble, glass, or chrome. So take a moment to peruse our wide selection of stylish and top-grade single sink bathroom vanities; with gorgeous and practical vanities like these, you simply can’t go wrong!

It’s really no secret that bathroom vanities have long been considered the key to a well executed bathroom design. The right bathroom vanity can truly bring a bathroom together into a cohesive, decorative whole. On the other hand, the wrong bathroom vanity can turn your bathroom into an interior design disaster. At Bathgems, we aim to ensure that you get the right bathroom vanity.

Our elegant and fashionable antique bathroom vanities are the perfect companion to any comfortable, richly-hued bathroom. Our wide selection of classic vanities, often handcrafted from hardwoods like sweetbriar, oak, mahogany, or sandalwood, are reminiscent of the luxury vanities of old. But don’t be fooled by their ornate and old-fashioned appearance: any antique vanity that we offer is meticulously handcrafted to modern standards, meaning that our vanities will last you for many years of functional elegance and charm.

An antique bathroom vanity works particularly well in bathrooms outfitted with wood trim, warm colors, and plenty of ambient light. That does not mean that they do not work in modern-style bathrooms, because their appearance is pretty versatile for having such intricate designs. But, if you find that you have a lot of chrome in your bathroom and your preferred colors are clinical-white and stainless steel, a richly toned wooden antique vanity may stick out like a sore thumb.

Everyone here at Bathgems believes in the quality of our products; to that end, we have ensured that our expansive catalog of gorgeous antique vanities encompasses only the finest items available today. Our selection is diverse, prolific, high in quality, often whimsical and creative, and always affordable. We acknowledge that the bathroom vanity is not simply a bathroom feature that serves a necessary function, though you will find that our vanities fulfill their functional capacity quite admirably (with ample storage space and sturdy construction). A bathroom vanity should be a decorative focal point in a room, and perhaps more importantly, it should be a celebration of your own tastes and personality. A vanity is a reflection of you, who you are, and what you value. Shouldn’t your vanity be as interesting and unique as you are?

So please, take a moment to peruse our selection of high-quality antique bathroom vanities, and transform your bathroom into an exquisitely comfortable and charming rest-room.

No shared or master bathroom could rightfully be considered complete without an elegant and incredibly useful double bathroom vanity. These exquisite and necessary bathroom features do not merely look stunning (although they do look gorgeous in pretty much any bathroom): they also serve several indispensable bathroom functions, making your life easier and your trips to the bathroom more efficient!

At Bathgems, we are confident that you will find only the highest quality luxury bathroom vanities within our expansive and diverse catalog. We are equally confident that you will not find a better deal on a better bathroom vanity anywhere else. Among our myriad styles and designs, you will find that our double bathroom vanities are often inventive, sometimes whimsical, and always stylish. They are crafted by seasoned and skilled artists and veteran professionals of the vanity trade, because we refuse to sell anything less than “only the finest.” Our bathroom vanities are constructed from a variety of durable yet attractive materials including hard oak and birch, teak and mahogany, creamy marble or masculine and bold onyx. The variety of possible finishes you’ll find among our selection is just as varied and intriguing as the structural materials.

But why invest so much attention to detail? Why take so much pride in a bathroom vanity? It’s because, while double bathroom vanities are extremely useful and accommodate multiple users simultaneously, they also provide a central focal point in any bathroom. A bathroom vanity will instantly draw the attention of any guest, and a shabby vanity can leave a terrible impression on the entire room. An elegant and attractive double sink bathroom vanity, however, can unify a bathroom into a masterpiece of interior design.

Bathroom Vanity with Modern Flair

Modern Vanity

Contemporary-style bathroom design is defined by clean, straight lines with few embellishments. A contemporary bath vanity is usually made with natural-looking materials, simple hardware, and an organic style.

Crisp white walls serve as a contrasting backdrop for this double vanity. Gray granite tops the ebony-stained mahogany cabinets, and recycled-glass mosaic tile guards the wall from splashes of water below the framed mirror, which is stained to match the rest of the wood. To maximize storage without obstructing the view out the window, a countertop stretches between the two vanities; the extra drawer storage keeps clutter out of sight, and the shorter height accommodates suitcase-packing. Stainless steel guards the vanity feet from kicks and dings while complementing the drawer pulls and faucets.

Double Bathroom Vanity

White porcelain sinks mounted beneath the deep-green limestone countertops in this master bath add an element of contrast with the dark-stained wood throughout the house.

High-arching faucets with sleek cross handles match the contemporary style of the cabinet hardware.

Back-to-Back Bathroom Vanities

If your master bath lacks a wall large enough for a standard double vanity, consider building out into the room. Placing vanities back-to-back with a mirror between them defines and maximizes space while increasing privacy.

Concrete counters and cherry cabinetry create a simple, chic theme, while the wall-mount stainless-steel sink fixtures free counter space and add to the sophisticated ambience.

Bathroom Vanity with Distinctive Wood Grain

Matching grains from one piece of wood to another unites individual drawers and doors in a strong graphic statement.

A slightly curved front and marble top add elegance to each vanity.

Consider orienting the wood vertically and book-matching each piece to capitalize on a dramatically striped grain.

Dual Bathroom Vanities

Mirrored medicine cabinets are recessed into the wall that separates these vanities from the dressing area. Dual sinks sit face-to-face in the middle of the room, separated by a hanging mirror that provides the perfect touch of privacy.

Nickel pulls and towel rings complement the bath’s ethereal palette.

Vintage Vanity in a Colorful, Modern Bath

Even tight budgets can look like they break the bank. This vintage dresser-turned-vanity was found at a secondhand shop and was the perfect replacement for the dated cabinetry original to the 1950s home.

Stainless-steel accessories fitted to the dresser enhance the house’s hip, midcentury roots and create a fitting focal point. A green-frame mirror and retro lamps replaced the old, uninspired choices.

Curved Bathroom Vanities

Curved vanities add a greater sense of space, and because this bathroom has two vanities on opposite walls, the couple can get ready at the same time. Cherrywood cabinets add warmth with a touch of elegance.

Vanity drawers follow the smooth curve of the concrete countertop and provide plenty of storage. Easy-to-grip rounded pulls also match the vanity’s shape.

Light-Filled Bathroom Vanity Area

This vanity, custom-made of wenge wood, terminates at the floor with furniture feet for furnished flair.

Clerestory windows flank the zebrawood mirror to utilize natural light, and recessed lighting in the ceiling provides ample illumination after nightfall.

Technology is discreet in the elegant, organic space with outlets thoughtfully hidden in vanity drawers.

Streamlined Double Bath Vanities

Mirrors installed flush with the glass tiles keep lines clean in this Asian-inspired master bath. Vanity cabinetry constructed from blond wood adds subtle warmth to the space, and wall-mount faucets below each mirror leave the counter space sleek and uninterrupted.

Well-Lit Bathroom

When high ceilings limit lighting options, consider track lighting above the mirror. It’s affordable, adjustable, and leaves the reflection unobstructed, unlike sconces installed in the mirror.

Modern Bath Vanity

With careful planning, a streamlined vanity can be practical, too. Open storage and baskets below the sinks lighten the look and offer versatile display space.

Stylish Built-In Bath Vanities

If your bath is short on floor space, put the walls to work. Shallow, built-in drawers complement sleek, wall-hung sinks and provide plenty of room for toiletries. A shelf on top adds display space.

Bath Vanity with Natural Materials

Bath Vanity

Marble floor and wall tiling combine with the granite slab atop the vanity to create a luxurious space.

Sleek and simple white cabinets let the natural materials shine. To maximize storage, deep medicine cabinets were built into the walls, with power outlets discreetly installed beneath the bottom ledge.

Function was at the forefront of this bath design, but even decorative elements have a home in the built-in shelf.

Vanity Defines Space in Open Floor Plan

This vanity serves as the division between the bathroom and bedroom.

The mirror, supported by minimal cedar beams, provides privacy between the rooms while maintaining an open feeling.

Water from the wall-mount faucet splashes down into a shallow sink, which is carved out of the travertine slab.

Windows Provide Natural Light

With the exterior wall of this vanity facing east, the homeowner decided to add a window during the remodeling process to take advantage of morning light.

The mirror adds an element of symmetry next to the window and is framed by nickel sconces that match the faucet.

Bathroom Vanity with a View

Double the enjoyment of a breathtaking vista by arranging vanity mirrors to reflect the view.

Vessel sinks add a bold, contemporary touch to the sleek vanity, and the wood plays with the warm tones of the wall tiles.
